How to Watch BBC America Online Without Cable

Live TV streaming services are a relatively new type of pay-TV service. These services are cheaper and stream using the internet — which means you can access your shows wherever you have a device and internet connection.

A few things set these services apart from their legacy counterparts. Since they stream online, there are zero infrastructure costs. Since livestream providers offer services via the web, there’s room for multiple competitors. More competition means competitive prices and possible savings for the customer.

Not all live TV streaming services offer BBC America, but some do. You can currently watch BBC America on these streaming services:

      Thanks for pointing out! Added.

I can’t get it on my Roku device.

    1. Cordcutting.com says:

What service are you using, Suzette?

  3. Barbara says:

It isn’t cord cutting if you’re paying for yet another subscription.

    1. Cordcutting.com says:

I understand your point, Barbara, but, unfortunately, it’s not possible to watch cable channels for free.

  4. Ken says:

Our cable provider doesn’t offer BBC America, so it isn’t an option on the Roku. The Roku BBC America app requires you to have either an existing cable or satellite subscription.

Why won’t you take my money BBC? Roku could handle the payments!

    1. Cordcutting.com says:

If you want to, you can still watch BBC America on a Roku device by subscribing to one of the live TV services listed above.

These are more expensive than my cable or the satellite that is offered in this area?

AT&T Watch is new, since your original article but before the Aug 25, 2018 date, but it is only $!5 per month and it does include BBC America.

It does look like it is mostly streaming TV, but some On Demand as well with 15,000 shows listed. For people like me who only want to pay to watch Dr. Who live as it airs it’s a cheap option. Doesn’t look like it’s supported on any game consoles but most streaming devices.

Most importantly, doesn’t look like it will work as a “sign-in” for any app usage. If you want to write a helpful article for people, write about which streaming services support apps. I know for awhile FubtoTV did not – I tried that one. I doesn’t think Philo does either.I’m almost positive AT&T Watch TV does not either.

As long as the CW keeps letting me watch it’s shows for free via it’s app I only need to pay for Dr. Who. Britbox does have old Dr. Who, but none of the new ones. If Britbox ever gets it’s act together and has new shows it will be the only thing I need. Though I do watch a lot of Netflix and Amazon Prime, I meant for current shows as they air.
