Hulu Inks Major Deal for Disney Movies

Disney fans have a new reason to choose Hulu: the streaming giant just signed a major deal with Disney that will bring movies like Mulan and Pocahontas to Hulu.

The new deal, which also gives Hulu The Mighty DucksThe Nightmare Before ChristmasAir Bud, and Hercules (among other), goes into effect immediately. All told, the deal includes about fifty movies – including titles for more mature audiences, such as Con Air and Gone in Sixty Seconds.

The big Disney deal is a major coup for Hulu. This past fall, Hulu missed out as Netflix signed a deal for some of Disney’s biggest blockbusters – including Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars titles. Now Hulu has a major Disney deal of its own. That Netflix deal included some non-exclusive rights, and some of those same movies are now included in the Hulu deal as well.

Of course, Hulu and Disney have a relationship that goes beyond this deal. Hulu is jointly owned by a few companies, including FOX, NBCUniversal, and – you guessed it – Disney.
