DIRECTV NOW has just improved their platform support in a big way. They've added a new channel for Roku, which will work on most‚ of Roku's many devices.

The new channel will work on all of Roku's current-gen devices (the Roku Express, Premiere, Premiere+, Ultra, and Stick), plus Roku's 4K TVs and the old Roku 2, 3, and 4 models. The channel is branded as an “early release,” with support for more Roku devices promised soon.

The Roku channel release comes at a good time for DIRECTV NOW, which isn't growing in the way that it did for the first couple months of its existence. In the spring months, according to a Bloomberg report, subscriber growth has leveled off for the skinny bundle service.

The new Roku channel could help change DIRECTV NOW's fortunes. Roku is a hugely popular platform, and the new channel‚ means DIRECTV NOW is now available to a big chunk of new potential customers. DIRECTV NOW's competitors have long been available on Roku, which is really a must-support platform for skinny bundles.

You can pick up the new Roku channel here or via the channel store on your Roku device. You can sign up for DIRECTV NOW here – take advantage of their free trial to check the service out for a week before you pay.
