It’s May Day today, which means that people around the world are celebrating spring, worker’s rights, or just a day off of work. It also means that we’ve survived another month without cable, and that it’s time to gear up for all of the streaming goodness that the coming month has in store for us. Regular readers may have already seen our posts covering what’s changing in the libraries of major streaming services, but for those of you that don’t visit us daily, we’ve collected everything here. Click the links below for the scoop on what’s changing at Netflix, HBO, Amazon, Hulu, Crackle, and Tubi TV.
Shrek is here and Amelie is back. The second season of Riverdale is on its way, too, though we don’t yet know which day of the month it’s arriving. But GoodFellas is gone, so I’m inconsolable. If you missed it, you should buy it on Amazon or something. It’s worth it. GoodFellas is the best.
Amazon has Bull Durham, a bunch of Rocky movies, some classic James Bond films, and more. Interestingly, some of the best stuff on Amazon this month is also coming to Hulu.
Fans of blockbusters will be happy to see Avatar, fans of dumb comedies will be happy to see Dude, Where’s My Car?, and stoners will be happy to see both. Plus: Garden State is coming, which is good news if you’re having a pizza-and-DVD date in 2005. Garden State sucks, by the way. I’m standing by this take, so don’t even bother emailing me.
Excellent baseball movie Bull Durham is here, along with the good Matrix movie and both of the bad ones. Plus, if you missed April’s last call for Back to School on Crackle, you can now watch it on Hulu instead.
The stoner comedy Pineapple Express has arrived on Crackle. More laughs arrive later in the month with Superbad. Also, some of this month’s Seinfeld episodes are particularly good ones, “The Pen” and “The Contest” among them.
There’s some decent stuff headed to Tubi TV this month, but Rain Man is unquestionably the highlight.
