By CordCutting.com TeamWe're back for another “Watch THIS Wednesday” with Yellowjackets Hive's Media Melanie! Tune into Peacock's “Based on True Story,” which has a premise similar to “Only Murders in the Building” but with more relatable storylines. Melanie says:
“Is there such a thing as too many comedy shows about murder and podcasting? NOPE! ‘Based on a True Story' may have some similarities to ‘Only Murders in the Building,' but it goes the extra mile with satire and delivers some pretty relatable storylines for those of us middle-agers out here. This new comedy thriller strikes a balance of comedy, true crime, unfathomable situations, and likable characters. It was lighter and brighter than ‘Truth Be Told' (AppleTV+) but with less of a ‘whodunnit' theme and a much bigger dose of comedy. I'm telling you, it just worked. Maybe it's because I'm a podcaster who also enjoys true crime, but that's neither here nor there. Also a quick shout-out to Morbid which is my personal favorite true crime podcast.”
