I think I just found my way to watch the Tour de France on NBCSN. Sling TV for 1 month in July, although I will have to look at the PlayStation Vue option if Sling does not offer a DVR option. It will kill me if I have to sit through all the commercials.
I can not watch NASCAR on NBC Sports using PlayStation Vue. I would like to know why?
I am using NBC Sports Gold, which is a stand alone app. You pick a sport such as cycling, rugby, or track and field, and pay for only that sport. The cycling pass includes many races that are not available on the regular NBC Sports network channel. There are no commercials.
I have a Roku Express connected to my HD TV. How do I watch NBC Sports without a cable or satellite provider? Would Apple TV work? I’m open to any ideas!
Gene, you can watch NBC Sports on your Roku Express using one of the services listed above. All of them have Roku channels.
How can you say you’re “cordcutting” or “getting a channel free” when you have to have cable or satellite and STILL pay up to $100 to get standard channels that you get with cable/satellite??? I cancelled my satellite Directtv because I was fed up with paying a ridiculous amount for tv with excessive commercials AND lousy service and equipment. Everyone of these channels with tons of commercials should be aired/streamed for free like ALL tv used to be. The original pay tv services (ON and Select Tv) had no commercials because you were paying a fee for the service. Now we pay and still get too many commercials AND get lousy service as well. I have a Roku Ultra and I have to say the equipment/remote leaves something to be desired (Little things like current time and date or being able to search for other programs while still watching the current program, etc.) I also think it’s completely disingenuous to claim you’re getting tbs or NBCsports etc. “free”. Having to pay Hulu (which used to be free) or Sling or whoever) to get the so called “free” channels is just a lie. In addition, you never mention the quality/user friendliness of the Roku etc. equipment or the customer service from each streaming provider (Roku is HORRIBLE by the way. I have found it is impossible to even get a live person in the USA with Roku even if you call the corporate office.), If you choose to have any channels, other than the truly free ones, or you want to watch sports or the major networks, you still end up paying too much. You can’t even listen to a sports radio broadcast over the internet anymore without having to pay for it (on top of the commercials). It really boils down to excessive greed on the part of the networks and sports teams/athletes. Personally, I refuse to pay to watch a bunch of over payed whiner athletes that won’t even respect the flag of the country that’s enabling them to become multi-millionaires playing a game. Since I live too far from over the air signal, the only free tv for me are a few channels that truly are free on Roku and my DVD collection. Guess I just need to read more.

I don’t even know where to begin as far as how wrong you are and some things. Put a little more effort into things and you will have in abundance of channels for free with the roku. Better yet ditch the Roku spent 35 box on a firestick and you’ll have even more.
You can download the nbcsports app on roku and watch for free as long as you watch it live. If you want to use the on demand function you have to pay for gold. I hate it myself as I have no way to dvr say motocross, but not having a 180 cable bill is worth being home to watch it live if I want.
I tried that, but it didn’t work. It seems that I still need to have a provider that I pay for — other than just Roku.
Totally agree. NBC SN doesn’t work even after downloading with Roku TV. You still need to confirm access code via a subscription channel provider.

GB, above, was right. “Cordcutting” means rejection of the bundling business model, not just moving cable services to the internet. NBC Sports is only available in a pricey bundle and should not be listed on this website. Or, the website should surrender the moniker “Cordcutting,” as, if you’re only taking that literally, you don’t understand what the term means.

The best option for watching NBCSN and other Top sports channels is “BCE Premium TV”. Their prices are so reasonable I highly recommend it.
They are scam. Half of their channels doesnt work. They are just a streaming website. There are other free streaming websites out there where you can get the same service like BCE for free. Half of the BCE channels keeps buffering when you try to watch any game or try to cast it to tv. They have no app to stream matches. And they show $20 for a month and charge you $30.
