Watch THIS Wednesday: ‘Reacher’

This week's Watch THIS Wednesday pick is “Reacher” on Amazon Prime Video, which returned for Season 2 this month. Media Melanie shares what she thought of the second season below. Check out the summary, video, and Reddit discussion below:

Instead of choosing a show I’m not 100% on (yet), I went back to an existing show that just finished its second season. “Reacher” (Prime Video) may be more action-packed than my usual picks, but it is a smart action crime thriller with dark overtones.

“Reacher” is based on the Jack Reacher book series by Lee Child. I haven’t read them, but after watching I’m tempted. If you’re a fan of “Jack Ryan” (Prime Video), another adapted action series, you’ll love “Reacher.” Also noteworthy is the 2012 film “Jack Reacher” (Paramount+) starring Tom Cruise.

Alan Ritchson in the TV adaptation about the retired U.S. Military Police officer and self-proclaimed drifter. Reacher encounters shady business entities, criminals, and bad guys and uses whatever is at his disposal to beat them at their own game.

I honestly can’t get over how strong and badass his character is; kind of like a beefier and more violent MacGuyver (Paramount+). The second season introduced new cast members which added a nice team dynamic and deeper emotional investment in the characters.
