It's Wednesday, so you know what that means: a weekly watch pick from Media Melanie from Yellowjackets Hive Presented by CordCutting.com! This time, it's “The Consultant” on Amazon Prime Video. Here's what she said about the series:

“‘The Consultant‘ on Prime Video is based on the novel of the same name by Bentley Little. While it does follow source material closely, the end of the book differs quite a bit from the TV show’s ending. The dramatic thriller stars Christopher Waltz (‘Inglorious Bastards') as creepy, mysterious, and ruthless consultant Regus Patoff. He arrives at an L.A.-based mobile gaming company following the murder of its owner and essentially takes over operations. Employees Elaine (Brittany O’Grady) and Craig (Nat Wolff) work to figure out who he is and why he’s there amidst a series of sinister happenings that put CompWare workers in challenging situations.

Amazon Prime Video has not made any decisions yet on whether or not the show will get canceled or renewed, but based on how it ended, I can see it going either way. Rotten Tomatoes has the show ranked at 79% on the Tomatometer with a 57% average audience score. I can see why it skews lower, the story did seem slow at times and both co-stars, O’Grady and Wolff, were occasional victims of over-acting. However, the twists and mystery were enjoyable as was Waltz in his leading role…”
