Watch THIS Wednesday: ‘The Tourist’

I’d heard ramblings of “The Tourist” from some of my UK-based X (formerly Twitter) friends, and was delighted when it popped up on Netflix! The BBC One drama thriller series debuted in 2022, but is just now streaming in the states.

Jamie Dornan stars as Elliot, a mysterious Irish man who wakes up in an Australian hospital following a car accident. He doesn’t remember who he is or how he got there. Elliot joins forces with Helen (Danielle Macdonald), a police officer in training, to start uncovering his past. If Helen looks familiar to you, it's because you may have seen her in the film Dumplin' with Jennifer Aniston or in an episode of Peacock's “Poker Face” in 2023.

From seemingly sweet to fully unsavory, we meet various characters who start to clue us into Elliot’s true identity. I don’t want to give away too much, but will say that there’s a lot of darkness and trauma, some mystery mixed in, and plenty of action. That formula makes for an easy binge-watch with only 6 episodes in the first season.
