On the heels of her awards season successes from “Killers of the Flower Moon,” we all have high hopes for Lily Gladstone’s starring TV role in Hulu’s “Under the Bridge.” (Image: Best Day Ever Productions)

April is shaping up to be a big month for TV premieres. As it happens, the four I’m looking forward to most are all female-driven with some big names in the mix, including recent Oscar-nominee Lily Gladstone.

When I first noticed “Loot” with Maya Rudolph on Apple TV+, I wasn’t overly excited about it. However, its premiere coincided with my first bout of COVID-19 back in 2022, and I was in desperate need of shows. I’m so glad I gave this one a shot! Molly Nova (Rudolph) gets a giant divorce settlement of $87 billion from her Jeff Bezos-like husband and decides to give philanthropy a try. The satirical but sweet series is easy to watch. We’ll find out if its sophomore season will be equally as endearing as the first when it premieres on April 3.

The trend of video games-turned-TV series continues with the debut of “Fallout” coming April 12 on Prime Video. I’ll be thrilled if it even comes close to the perfection of “The Last of Us” adaptation on Max. I’m still crying over the Bill (Nick Offerman) and Frank (Murray Bartlett) episode. Former “Yellowjackets” star Ella Purnell leads Prime Video’s new action sci-fi drama alongside Moises Arias, Johnny Pemberton, and Walton Goggins. Life in Los Angeles looks a lot different 200 years after the apocalypse. I’m here for it.

The miniseries “Under the Bridge” premieres on Hulu on April 17. Riley Keough and Lily Gladstone star in the true crime drama adapted from the book of the same name by the late Rebecca Godfrey. The eight episodes tell the story of 14-year-old Reena Virk who went missing after going to a party with friends. Godfrey, Keough, and Officer Cam Bentland (Gladstone) delve into Virk’s brutal murder, uncovering shocking truths about the group of teen girls and a boy accused of killing her. My TV-watching tends to skew dark, so this is right on-trend.

Don’t love commitment? Here’s another miniseries for your consideration. “The Veil” drops on FX/Hulu on April 30 with a two-episode premiere with the remaining four airing/streaming weekly. The talented Elisabeth Moss leads the spy thriller drama. Imogen Salter (Moss) plays a badass spy with erratic tendencies. Sounds about right for our girl Moss who plays June Osbourne / Offred in Hulu’s “The Handmaid’s Tale.” “The Veil” looks action-packed, twisty, and full of secrets.

Here’s the most recent comprehensive list of new and returning TV shows set to premiere on broadcast TV networks and major streaming services in 2024. They’re listed in date order. Be sure to bookmark this page! It will be updated periodically as additional dates are confirmed.
